Rumour: Google Research & Development center in Poland

Rumour has it Google is considering opening a Research & Development center in Poland! It's still just a rumour but... there has recently been some meeting with a Google representative at Warsaw University (MIMUW) in which they talked if it's a good idea to set up a development shop in Poland.

It looks like those many successes of Polish participants in TopCoder and ACM contests are starting to get noticed (btw: Eryk Kopczyński has recently won TopCoder Open 2005).

This is a very exciting rumour, to say the least, but to be honest I have very mixed feelings about it. More than a Google R&D lab in Poland I would rather want to see a Polish Google-killer. Yeah!
